Australia computers market increased by 42% overall during 2000 to 2010
Computers and Office Machinery in Australia: ISIC 30 - a new market research report on 2014-04-01 19:17:01
With computer trends changing fast and consumers increasingly valuing portability and convenience, the Australian computers and office machinery market grew by a net 42% over 2000-2010, and will see both innovation and domination of imports continue.

The domestic market achieved 4% average annual growth over the decade to reach A$18.5 billion in 2010, still below the pre-downturn levels of 2006-2008. In general demonstrating quite stable growth, the sharpest 14% year-on-year decline came in 2009, as the downturn made consumers hold back their spending and competition between laptops and netbooks (introduced in 2008) led to price pressure. On average, 47% of the demand was generated by capital purchases and a further 25% came from businesses.

Households represented the third-largest customer group, accounting for 21% of total demand for computers and office machinery, while the government remained the least significant buyer with 7% average demand throughout the review period.
