Cutlery, Hand Tools and General Hardware in Australia: ISIC 2893 - a new market research report on 2014-04-01 18:19:02
The Australian cutlery, hand tools and general hardware market increased by net 41% during the review period from 2000 to 2010 despite large differences in year-on-year performance. The cutlery, hand tools and general hardware market in Australia grew from A$838 million in 2000, with an average rate of 4% per annum, to reach A$1.2 billion in 2010. This growth was fuelled by Australia being in a positive cycle of construction.

Consequently, demand for modern hardware grew during the review period. Australians tend to spend over US$33 per capita annually on hardware. Higher demand for construction and hence for dwellings was created by increases in Australians´ real wages as well as by an increase in consumer economic confidence.

The Australian cutlery, hand tools and general hardware market is highly specialised and divided into niches. Therefore a profitable strategy for entrants was specialisation in product range and also targeting specific buyer groups.
