Australia food and drinks machinery market benefited from increased consumer demand despite an imports increase
Machinery for Food, Beverage and Tobacco Processing in Australia: ISIC 2925 - a new market research report on 2014-04-01 19:07:01
Displaying net 115% growth over 2000-2010, the Australian industry for the manufacture of machinery for food, beverage and tobacco processing benefited from strong consumer demand for food products and beverages, although increasing imports of these products as well as direct competition with imports may pose a threat to the industry.

After growing 9% per annum over the period under review, the market reached A$802 million in 2010. The market only decreased in 2009, dropping 13% year-on-year, as the economic downturn made producers of beverages, food and/or tobacco abstain from making machinery purchases. Capital spending accounted for a 63% value share of demand for these products in 2010, clearly dominating the buyers´ market.

Businesses, with a large variety of customer industries, from grain-based foods to the large spectrum of meat products to cigarette producers, accounted for a 34% value share of the market. The government came in last with only a 3% value share.
