Displaying 6% annual growth over 2000-2010, the future growth of the Australian manufacture of industrial and laboratory furnaces and ovens largely depends on demand from Australia´s developing science industry and metal treatment companies. Growing by a net 70% over the period under review, the market reached a value of A$176 million in 2010, up from A$104 million in 2000.

In general exhibiting a growth pattern, the market experienced a 17% year-on-year decline in 2009 as both industries and scientific institutions became hesitant to undertake new investments in furnaces and ovens.

Businesses represented the largest customer group for these products, and their purchases comprised a 51% value share of the total market in 2010. The business buyers of furnaces include Ford, Toyota, Mitsubishi, the Australian Department of Defence, Schneider, Siemens, BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto and Bosch.
