Knitted and Crocheted Articles in Australia: ISIC 173 - a new market research report on 2014-04-01 17:03:01
The knitted and crocheted articles industry in Australia has shrunk 28% in the last decade, but there is hope for its future growth if successful innovation is implemented. The domestic market size shrank by 8% over 2000-2010 as a result of a 1% average annual decline to A$2.4 billion in the latter year.

The most significant year-to-year decrease was observed in 2006, when market size dropped 14%. Households are the main buyers, and their value share in the total market increased from 68% in 2000 to 72% in 2010, despite a net 2% decline in their spending over the review period.

Business-to-business purchases, on the other hand, dropped 20% (2% decline per annum on average) over the review period, and decreased in significance from 32% of market value in 2000 to 28% in 2010. The turnover of local producers in the industry demonstrated a 3% average annual decrease and was significantly lower than the domestic market at A$664 million in 2010.
