Australia social work services market valued at A$10.8Bn in 2010
Social Work Services in Australia: ISIC 853 - a new market research report on 2014-04-02 06:57:02
Starting from 2000 the market for social work services in Australia grew on average by 5% annually, positively influenced by the ageing society in the country and increasing attention to vulnerable social classes. As a result it was valued at A$10.8 billion in 2010.

The reviewed industry was negatively affected by the current global economic turmoil, as demand for the services provided in the market declined by 8% in value in 2008. Although demand for social services should be not sensitive to economic cycles, as people require care and counselling at all times, in 2008 it was going down mainly due to decreasing government subsidies for the services provided. Overall, over 2000-2010 there was no significant change in the composition of the buyers of social services.

Among the main buyers in the market is the private sector, accounting for 25% of market value in 2010. The other major buyer of social work services is the government, with a value share of 75% in 2010.
