The Australian manufacture and distribution of gas grew by 12% annually over 2000-2010 and has favourable long-term prospects due to Australia´s vast natural gas reserves. Growing by a net 175% over the decade, the Australian market reached a value of A$6.5 billion in 2010.

In terms of growth dynamics, the market saw a notable 50% year-on-year increase in 2008, followed by an 18% year-on-year decline the next year, as global oil and gas prices influenced prices in Australia´s domestic market.
