Boots move away from its tie up with Waitrose food is a good move
for the retailer. While the convenience food market provides many opportunities given that on the whole most Boots stores do not open past 6pm, it is difficult for it to offer a dinner convenience offer. Instead, the Jamie Oliver lunchtime range is a better fit for the retailer.

In time for Christmas 2012 the retailer launched a shopping app which allows shoppers to leave personal video messages attached to presents through QR codes. While this is a good move, the retailer does not have a standard shopping app though it does have a mobile optimised site.
Boots continued to open NHS clinics in 2011/12, reaching a total of 20 including 14 doctors' surgeries of which the latest was opened in Derby in November 2011. In January 2012 it opened its second instore dental surgery in Market Street in Manchester. These moves should raise Boots' authority in providing healthcare services.
