China Aluminium Rolling Industry Report, 2012-2015 - a new market research report on 2014-03-12 09:40:04
Strong growth in the output of China´s aluminium rolling market in 2011 has resulted in the output of aluminium sheets in China surpassing 10 million tonnes in 2012 for the first time. Investment in the manufacture of high precision aluminium sheets and strips, tank aluminium sheet, electronic foils and packaging foils has placed in the industry in a strong position to exploit further demand in the high value-added products.

For the first time, China´s output capacity for aluminium sheets exceeded 10 million tonnes with annual output in 2012 totalling 7.8 million tonnes. China´s capacity utilisation rate in 2012 was reported at 74.5%. China´s aluminium foil capacity totalled 3.22 million tonnes per annum in 2012 with an annual output of 2.51 million tonnes. Aluminium foil utilisation rates totalled 78% in 2012.

The leading aluminium processing company in the World is Chinalco. In 2012, Chinalco´s capacity of aluminium sheets, strips and foils had reached more than 1.5 million tonnes. The company has seven subsidiaries and in 2012 Chinalco suffered large losses due to the decreasing aluminium price worldwide combined with the rising aluminium price in China. It is forecast that Chinalco´s losses will shrink as a result of normalising global prices.

China´s major aluminium profile producers is Nanshan Aluminium and in recent years, the company has invested heavily in aluminium plates and strips manufacture. Nanshan Aluminium´s third largest business is now cold-rolled aluminium products. In 2012, revenue from cold-rolled aluminium products totalled RMB 5.173 billion. By 2014, the implementation of the 400,000 tonne aluminium cold-rolled products project is expected to start production, driving increased capacity to aluminium cold-rolled products to 600,000 tonnes per annum.

Dongyangguang Aluminium represents one of the largest aluminium foil processing companies in China with a total etched foil capacity totalling 27 million square metres in 2012. The formed foil capacity of the company totalled 38 million square metres in 2012. Both the capacity of etched foil and formed foil is expected to increase to 55 million square metres and 50 million square metres, respectively in 2013.

The report focused on the 17 major players operating in the China aluminium production market, providing analysis on the output, consumption, import and export value of aluminium sheets, strips and foils in China.
