2013-01-18 15:29:10 - Commercial aircraft manufacturing market experiencing a strong backlog of orders

The global commercial aircraft manufacturing market has been forecast to hit a valuation of US$159.98 billion by 2015, driven by the growth of the commercial aircraft segment and the increasing backlog of orders. The global commercial aircraft manufacturing industry has experienced some turbulence during the past five years. Buoyant demand from developing countries in terms of demand for air travel and replacements in aircraft fleet caused strong revenue growth in the beginning of the period. This created a strong backlog of orders for major producers, which gave them a beneficial position during the ensuing economic downturn. The two movements are expected to offset each other and keep revenue relatively flat, with five-year annualised gains of only 0.6% expected through to the end

of 2012.The commercial aircraft industry is likely entering a prolonged upcycle of orders and production, as demonstrated by recent Boeing and Airbus announcements of plans for increased production. One example is Boeing´s roll out in December of its first factory-complete Next-Generation 737 pushing for a production rate of 35 airplanes a month. The company plans to increase the 737 rate to 38 airplanes a month in the second quarter of 2013 and to 42 airplanes a month in the first half of 2014. But not ever airplane manufacturer will see an increase in production of airliners. One of the major growth drivers is the increasing focus on R&D. The strong focus of the vendors in the global aerospace industry on R&D activities to develop innovative solutions and enhance existing product lines is a major factor that drives the growth of this market.Currently, the focus of many vendors in this market is on enhancing existing products and services as well as launching first-to-market products to offer customers a wider range of choices, improve aircraft performance, and set new standards for customer safety, comfort, and in-flight productivity.Key players currently dominating the global commercial aircraft manufacturing market include European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co., General Electric Co., The Boeing Co., and United Technologies Corp. For more information on the commercial aircraft manufacturing market, see the latest research: Commercial Aircraft Manufacturing MarketFollow us on Twitter @CandMResearch
