January 16, 2013 - Richmond, British Columbia, Canada - Empower Technologies Corporation ( www.empowertechnologies.com/)(TSX.V: EPT)(Empower") announces it is proceeding with a non-brokered private placement of units (the "Offering") to raise up to $300,000. The Offering is not subject to any minimum and is to be of up to 6,000,000 units (the "Units") at $0.05 per Unit, with each Unit consisting of one share and one half warrant. Each whole warrant is exercisable into one common share for a period of one year at $0.10 per share. The warrants will be non-transferable. The proceeds of the Offering will be used to finance the ramping up of the operations and purchase order(s) of the newly formed wholly-owned subsidiary Empower Defense Systems Inc.

("EDS") and general working capital.

The Offering is subject to acceptance by TSX Venture Exchange.
