G8 defence spending market: $1 trillion industry estimated during 2012

The G8 countries contributed $1,053.9 billion in 2012 to the global defense spending industry, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.8% between 2008 and 2012. The G8 countries are expected to reach a value of $1,090.2 billion in 2017, with a CAGR of 0.7% over the 2012-17 period.

Among the G8 nations, the US is the leading country in the defense spending industry, with market revenues of $682.5 billion in 2012. This was followed by Russia and the UK, with a value of $90.1 and $60.8 billion, respectively.

The US is expected to lead the defense spending industry in the G8 nations with a value of $654.2 billion in 2016, followed by Russia and Japan with expected values of $141.6 and $65.7 billion, respectively.
