2014-04-02 08:27:01 - Canned/Preserved Food Packaging in Germany - a new market research report on

Canned/preserved food is mature and suffers from category saturation. As such, it faces low consumer demand, a high private label share and low prices. This situation is exacerbated by the decline in marketing activities of the leading players as low margins and business potential are forcing them to turn to other products that are more lucrative.

Canned/preserved food will continue to suffer from category saturation due to its maturity. Thus high private label shares and the dynamic growth in fresh, frozen and chilled food will also challenge it in the forecast period. The consumer perception of canned/preserved food being old fashioned, of low quality and having low nutritional value, is unlikely to change significantly, although consumers will carry on purchasing these

as cupboard fillers and as a cheap alternative to other food products, particularly if money is in short supply.
