Retail volume sales of televisions decreased by 10% in 2013. Until 2011, televisions benefited from the transition from analogue broadcasting to digital broadcasting, as many households replaced their old TV sets with new ones adapted to digital and high-definition (HD) TV broadcasting. As the transition was completed, sales of televisions inevitably fell in 2012 and 2013. This, and the decline in video player sales, resulted in a 13% decrease in retail volume sales of home video in 2013.
