Thus companies launched products with lower price points to target middle-income consumers. This trend was observed mainly in the fast food market in 2012.

2012 witnessed leading brands expanding their outlets and introducing new food items to their menus continuously, resulting in fierce competition between leading brands. For instance, McDonald´s introduced the Happy Price menu and to compete with this, KFC introduced the Wow Menu. Even pizza brands such as Domino´s Pizza and Pizza Hut launched pizzas priced at less than Rs100.
