Direct mail advertisers have not experienced significant losses, despite the economic recession. Some companies have chosen to use direct mail advertising during the harsh downturn, since they provide a cheaper, more targeted form of advertising than traditional mainstream media, such as radio and TV. However, as companies engage in mainstream advertising again over the next five years, the industry will face heightened competition.
