Norway small kitchen appliances market declined by 5% in 2013
Small Kitchen Appliances (Non-Cooking) in Norway - a new market research report on 2014-05-01 04:47:02
Volume sales of small kitchen appliances (non-cooking) dropped by 5% in 2013. This is attributable to increased competition from substitutable products. For example, kettles are perceived as non-essential by Norwegian consumers as substitute appliances, such as microwaves and cooking hobs, can be used to warm and boil water. This perception has led to a decrease in consumer demand for kettles as consumers are unwilling to invest in or replace kettles without a clear and justifiable reason for doing so.

BSH Husholdningsapparater AS led sales in 2013 with a volume share of 21%. BSH Husholdningsapparater´s leading position is due to its long standing in small kitchen appliances (non-cooking) with its ever popular Bosch and Siemens brands. Both brands represent quality and reliability for Norwegian consumers, and are distributed on a national scale ensuring a mass market penetration and reach. This high level of availability and distribution for BSH Husholdningsapparater´s product portfolio is supporting its leadership position.

Despite growing home cookery trends, small kitchen appliances (non-cooking) is set to continue declining in constant value terms over the forecast period, for two main reasons. The first of these is the advent of multifunctional small appliances, which may result in small kitchen appliances such as coffee mills and food and meat slicers becoming obsolete, while the second is households prioritising their expenditure on other more perceived essential consumer appliances.
