The number of people using air travel decreased in 2013, as a result of a decrease in domestic travellers and stagnation of international outbound trips. With regard to outbound travel, there was an increase in the number of more-affordable trips by sea to neighbouring countries.
Sales of transportation are expected to increase at a CAGR of 2% at constant 2013 prices over the forecast period. This expected growth is a better performance than the decline at a CAGR of 1% recorded over the review period. While intensified price-based competition took place during the review period, the
forecast period is expected to see moderate unit price increases. The discounting that occurred towards the end of the review period is not sustainable for air carriers that were already suffering from low profitability.
