AmorePacific maintained the leading position in the South Korea sets market with a 36% share of value sales in 2012. Although the company showed negative growth in personal care gift sets, cosmetic brands recorded health value growth in 2012. In particular, Sulwhasoo continued to be loved as a gift set for mothers and teachers on special days such as Parents´ Day and Teachers´ Day. The brand increased by 22% in actual value sales and held a 12% value share in 2012.

Sets/kits increased by 6% in current value terms in 2012 to reach Won551 billion. Personal care seasonal gift sets including hair care, oral care, bath and shower products decreased in 2012 as the minor players in these categories did not focus on distribution of their products. Two leading players, LG Household & Health Care and AmorePacific divided the seasonal gift set demand in 2012 by recording marginal negative growth in actual value sales.

Sets/kits will increase by a CAGR of 4% in constant value terms over the forecast period. Rather than global brands, domestic leading brands are expected to actively develop the sets/kits category. LG Household & Health Care will continue to introduce new formats in personal gift sets in order to expand value share. The company launched a competition for consumers in order to obtain their ideas for a seasonal gift set in 2012. Anyone could make suggestions for new packaging, product composition and the name of the gift set for seasonal gift sets, and the company rewarded the winners with a voucher. The company will continue to introduce new sets/kits over the forecast period.
