2014-03-26 11:06:03 - Transportation in the Netherlands - a new market research report on companiesandmarkets.com
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines was the leading airline in the Netherlands in 2012, and is one of the largest in the world, following its acquisition by Air France. It maintains strategic partnerships with a number of other airlines. It also owns transavia.com and Martinair although the latter ceased to be active in passenger transport and only operates a cargo business.
Transportation experienced very strong growth in 2012. The main driver was the impressive performance of air travel. This type of travel was severely negatively affected in 2009 by the global recession, but saw a very positive development in the three years that followed.
Most other types of transportation also registered growth. The slow economy and the availability of low cost options had
everything to do with this negative development.
