United Arab Emirates luxury apparel market: AED 3.8 billion industry in 2012
Designer Apparel (Ready-To-Wear) in the United Arab Emirates - a new market research report on 2014-03-06 10:03:01
Burberry and Gucci are among the most visible brands in the United Arab Emirates luxury apparel market. Burberry is especially popular among local citizens and tourists from other GCC countries, especially for designer childrenswear. Gucci is a popular brand across a wide segment of the United Arab Emirates population and the brands wide range of products across many designer apparel categories ensures that products which prominently feature the Gucci logo are increasingly visible in the United Arab Emirates.

The 6% value growth recorded in designer during 2012 was considerably higher than the 4% current value CAGR recorded over the entire review period. Although the global economic crisis hit Dubai very hard, the country is now well on its way to making a full recovery. Immigration rates are increasing again and large numbers of tourists are visiting the United Arab Emirates, both of which are very positive influences on demand for designer apparel in the country.

Over the forecast period, designer apparel in the United Arab Emirates is expected to increase in value at a CAGR of 4%, rising to AED4.5 billion by the end of 2017. The static constant value CAGR recorded over the review period was the result of growth in the category being dragged down by the poor performance of designer apparel in the middle of the review period as the economic crisis hit Dubai hard in late 2009. However, the economy of the United Arab Emirates has rebounded solidly, and this is expected to continue during the forecast period. Although designer apparel in the United Arab Emirates is already a highly developed category, increasing numbers of inbound tourists, especially those visiting Abu Dhabi, are expected to drive demand during the forecast period.
