The United Arab Emirates retail market is forecast to see high CAGR growth of around 6.24% between 2012 and 2017. By 2017, the Retail market will continue to optimistically increase and reach AED159.5 billion.

Specialist retailers will contribute to the growth in UAE´s retail market by driving the amount of revenues was the largest channel group, contributing 47.9% towards total UAE retail sales in 2012, or AED56.5 billion in value terms. This will result in the retail market increasing by 2017. In 2012 online retailers was the fastest-growing channel group, with a CAGR of 16.13% and is expected to remain the fastest-growing category group.

Food and Grocery was the fastest-growing category group accounting for 41.2% of the total UAE retail sales, whilst the Books, news and stationery sector will suffer a marked decline during the same period with a CAGR of 2.24%.
